LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT 11-8-11
I am happy to let you know we have an exciting year coming up but to get to where we want to go we need lots of help. Expanding our membership , building our web site, and having a successful show are all major objectives for this coming year. We can not do it alone and need all of you to pitch in and help in any way you can. It is our objective to build a membership of friends old and new that share a common interest in salt water tackle and salt water fishing. So please sign up. Join us, talk up the site, and share what ever you can with the rest of us so we can learn and appreciate the objects and history of our hobby.
Building our Website still remains paramount for us to go forward. We need your help. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Pictures of lures, information on plug builders, old photos, artwork, tackle used and the people who used it. It is our objective to build a website that we can all go to that has captured the history of our hobby and sport.
For the coming 2012 year we have voted to make a few changes to how the club operates. First we reduced our membership dues from 35.00 to 25.00 per year. We also voted to no longer include one free table to our annual show to members. You will see that we have also reduced what we charge for tables at our show for 2012. This year tables to our show are only 10.00 each. By reducing the membership price and dropping the table price you will still be paying the same or less than you did in previous years.
We also added a second day to our show, the friday night before, This is a members only buy, sell and trade session that gives all the members time to talk and mingle. Most of us arrive the day before the main show. This gives us a little extra time before the general public comes in on Saturday.
We also voted to make the general admission to the 2012 show free. This is to give everyone a chance to come in and see what the club is all about. We feel it will boost membership and promote the hobby. Growing the hobby is what the club is all about.
Last year we had a very successful show in Bourne, Mass. with about 60 tables of vintage and contemporary tackle .This gave us all a chance to gather together to show some tackle, share information, develop friendships, and swap stories. We have decided to return to the Trowbridge this year as it was a great venue and super location keeping it located in one of the epicenters of Striped Bass fishing history. It will be a great year and I for one look forward to seeing old friends and meeting and making new ones. Please join us and welcome to our club.
